Basically,you connect the av to rca cable to your camera and the rca plugs into the dvd recorder. Put your digital8 or hi8 tapes into the handicam and play them while pressing record on the dvd recorder. My dad did this with a ton of tapes and now uses the dvd recorder to record shows and what not. Those can be purchased for about $100 now.
