Selected by their peers for their outstanding contributions to our students and our schools, the following individuals are to be commended and congratulated for being named Site Teachers of the Year!
EAST ELEMENTARY Erica Housley – 3 rd Grade Teacher Hometown: Tulsa, Oklahoma College: Oklahoma State University Years in education: 14 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 14 “I want to be a cheerleader for my students who are not as fortunate and don’t have someone in their corner. I want kids who may be going through some unimaginable things in their home lives to know that when they come to school, I am happy they are there. I want them to know they have a bright future and that anything is possible. The kids motivate me to try new tactics, find new learning opportunities, and to stretch myself as a person. I do what I do to help them realize they are worth it!” NORTHWEST ELEMENTARY Lynn Goodrich – Pre-K and Kindergarten ELD Teacher, ELD Site Coordinator Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri College: University of Missouri and Wichita State University Years in education: 20 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 18 “My view is that teaching is a mission.
As I encounter a student, I consider the type of impact I want to have. What will I do today to add to the emotional health, education, or life experience of each child I encounter? You never know what kind of mark you will leave on someone’s heart, so it better be a good one!” SOUTHEAST ELEMENTARY Rachel Hughes – Health and Physical Education Teacher Hometown: Shawnee, Oklahoma College: Oklahoma Baptist University (Bachelor’s Degree), East Central University (Master’s Degree), Northeastern State University (Principal’s Certification) Years in education: 10 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 10 “I am motivated to make a difference in the lives of my students because I know the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle. Health, fitness, and education are the three most valued attributes needed for a successful future. I have a passion for teaching and I strive to do what I can to provide many opportunities to my students in hopes of instilling the same mindset in them. I am particularly excited to know my colleagues understand my role and what I contribute to the quest of developing the whole child.” WEST ELEMENTARY Jacqueline Novotny – Kindergarten Teacher Hometown: Oologah, Oklahoma College: Northeastern State University Years in education: 15 Years at Jenks Public Schools: 6 “My students and their families are my inspiration.
